I think us ladies can agree that we wish everyday was a #goodhairday. As much as I would love to have “perfect” hair all of the time, sometimes it just isn’t feasible with my schedule. My mornings are hectic, so I really don’t have the time to spend styling it in the morning. I need my hair to look good after letting it air dry, so I’m always on the hunt for a shampoo & conditioner that will do its job. You guys know I also hate any preservatives or toxic ingredients, so one with the most natural list of contents is a must. I’ve tried a ton of different clean shampoo brands over the years, but most of them have fallen flat.
I’ve heard a lot about customized hair care recently, but just assumed that it entailed going to some expensive salon for treatment. But, now that I’ve been spending so much more time at home, I’m determined to step up my self care routine. So, when I came across Function of Beauty, I was excited to try it. They determine your custom shampoo and conditioner formula after you take a quiz online, detailing the type of hair you have, as well as up to five of your hair goals. I have curly, medium bodied hair, so I selected this first. Then, I chose deep condition, hydrate, and thermal protection as my goals. The best part is that they don’t use any harsh chemicals, toxins, parabens or sulfates. Plus, they’re cruelty free.
Then, the fun part! With Function of Beauty, you can even select your fragrance and color. I chose Nude (P)each and this super pretty light pink, peach-y color. I also really love that you can customize your order even more by selecting what size bottles of the shampoo and conditioner, as well as the frequency that they are delivered. I’m a double shampooer and use only a tiny amount of conditioner, so I went with the 16oz shampoo and 8oz conditioner option. You can choose to have it delivered every 1, 3 or 6 months, and you can tweak your formula, pause or cancel at any time. I love that you can change your hair goals as the seasons change to make sure your formula is the best fit for what your hair needs at that time.
Function of Beauty also has Deep Conditioning Masks and Frizz Control Serum (I’m definitely adding that to my order in the summer time). When my order arrived, I couldn’t wait to try it- the bottles even have my name on them! The smell was really nice- not overpowering at and it didn’t reek of chemicals at all. I really struggle with fragrences in postpartum life, so I was pleasantly surprised and even used it on my son’s unruly curls on multiple occasions.
Now for the ultimate test. After the first use, I let my hair air dry, and it definitely felt softer on the ends. I only wash my hair twice a week, so I was excited to see how it would feel after a couple of washes.
I’ve been using Function of Beauty shampoo and conditioner for a few weeks now, and I can definitely feel the difference. My hair feels stronger, softer and just healthier overall. I love that I’m not putting any harsh chemicals near my body, and unlike other natural shampoos I’ve tried in the past, Function of Beauty actually cleans my hair.
