COVID-19 & Baptist Health South Florida: New Normal at Your Doctor’s Office

Hi you guys! I can officially say that my family and I are Florida Residents again and it feels so good! The sun, the family, good friends and access to Baptist Health South Florida. BHSF has helped me to safely navigate COVID-19 and they are an incredible resource for all things health, wellness and fitness alike. We have covered everything together from pregnancy and breastfeeding to walking and events! We have been working closely together on all things COVID-19 and I wanted to share another great resource with you today.

I have to be honest, I have worn a mask and socially distanced every time I stepped out of the house in California. What I am seeing here in Florida is a bit worrisome. Many people congregating and not wearing masks at all in grocery stores and restaurants. As the next couple of months wear on, I am going to stay in close contact with Baptist Health South Florida to bring you up to date information to help you make informed choices for yourself and your family.

First Up…Doctor’s Appointments.

Yes! These are practices that Baptist Health South Florida is putting in place, but they are also great practices to bring to your doctors attention if protocols aren’t being practiced.

I just made two doctors appointments for August. I am already a bit nervous about going in, but many precautions are being put in place to ensure safety for everyone involved and reduce exposure to COVID-19.

Here’s How:

  • No more crowded waiting rooms: Doctor’s are spacing appoints to meet social distancing guidelines and may even allow or ask patients to wait in the car until it is their turn to meet with the doctor.
  • Opening all urgent and non-urgent services at Baptist are open and doctors are encouraging patients to make their well visits. Especially those with chronic conditions and young children who need to remain up to date on their vaccination schedules.
  • Before entering any Baptist location you will see a symptom and temperature screening station and potentially see plastic partitions installed at the receptionist desks to guard against harmful airborne particles from coughing or sneezing.
  •  There will also be a reduction in available seating to allow for social distancing.
  • Masks will be required and likely provided.
  • Doctor registration will be contactless and forms and check-in can be done on your tablet or phone.
  • All high-touch items like magazines and coffee stations have been removed from the lobbies and are regularly sanitized.
