Happy Tuesday everyone! I am back today with Baptist Health South Florida discussing a really important topic…cancer. Cancer has affected almost every single  person I know in one way, shape or form. Cancer is influenced by two main factors; genetics and lifestyle choices including: tobacco, diet, alcohol, and obesity. According to recent studies and the American Cancer Society, this also means that many forms of these cancers are preventable [to some extent].

Diets filled with fruits and vegetables provide phytochemicals, a class of nutrients that occur naturally in plants. They also offer vitamins and minerals, all which can act as antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the cellular processes of the body and help your body fight inflammation.

2.) Less Processed Meat & Sugars: 

Red or processed meats contain chemicals that irritate and damage cells, which can increase your risk of cancer,” Pereira says. Certain sugars can also increase your risk of breast cancer reoccurrence.
