 My friends…this week was crazy, and even though the crazy continues today I wanted to hop on here and share with you a fairly new workout coming to Inner Balance Studio in North Miami very soon! It’s called bootybarre Sculpt, and I began the initial certification process this weekend. BB Sculpt was created by Tracey Mallet, a pioneer in the fitness community, and Pilates/Barre powerhouse. I was trained almost two years ago in Tracey Mallet‘s the bootybarre, if you remember from this post and today I have taught over two hundred classes. I take cardio barre 1-2 times per week at Equinox, but I was certified in Tracey Mallet’s the bootybarre because I fell in love with the flow of the movement. BB never gets boring because it is constantly moving, and there is even a touch of interval training through your one hour workout. You train in a neutral spine instead of the famous ‘tuck’; which really takes any strain off the lower back if you are doing in correctly.  I always leave class feeling longer, stronger and ready to take on my day!  The bootybarre is dynamic, high energy workout that  lifts, tones and tightens in all the right places.

After trying barre for the first time I was hooked. Not because I am a dancer [you don’t need to be btw], but because it is a fantastic workout for my retired female dancer body. I still want to sculpt long lean muscles, a strong core and chiseled arms, and barre targets every area of concern on my my body. My first class I walked in bit overly confident. I spent my life at a barre, but after the first five minutes I was humbled and sweating more than I ever have. I was pleasantly surprised at how many of my favorite traditional fitness movements were seamlessly intertwined with ballet, yoga and Pilates exercises. I also never knew that you could get such a huge burn using 2-3 lb weights!
