Besties With Bumps-Welcome to the World Baby Sophia!

Welcome to the World Baby Sophia!!!

In your late twenties/early thirties you probably have a few types of friends.  Friends with no babies who still want to fist pump with you in Vegas [Encore Beach Club, HERE WE COME], friends that started early and already have a couple of munchkins running around and friends with one child/one on the way. At this point, I have three girlfriends who are all about to be catapulted into the crazy-beautiful world that is motherhood.  Currently, I have one man-child in the form of a 200 lb adorable Ohioin, and that is about all I can handle; however,  I am super excited to make an actual baby human with he that I call husband in the near future. Unfortunately, my job requires me to wear spandex on a regular basis, and well…we would also love to have grandparents within driving distance! Hint Hint….cough cough.

Anyway, like many of my girlfriends, Nicole and I met when we were just a couple of young kids, we stayed close throughout high school and even went to college together. We have shared every important moment in our lives. From proms to closets (yes, closets are moments in time) to weddings, and of course, every break-up in between. To stand next to Nicole on her wedding day, and witness her marry her high school sweetheart (who happens to be my older brothers best friend) was emotional enough. Seeing Sophias face for the first time was overwhelmingly emotional. I had to take a pregnancy test just to make sure I wasn’t abnormally hormonal after tears started uncontrollably streaming down my face!  (I’m Not)

Mommy and Daddy P gave birth yesterday to their first little bundle of joy.  Like really, she just had a baby and looks this stunning? I only have brothers, so my “besties”are essentially the only “sisters” I have ever known, and I feel connected to their bellies in this weird “Aunt-Like” way.  I cannot wait for that day in May when I finally get to snuggle baby to pieces and shower her with smooches. I mean, who could resist that face? Love you already baby S!!! I will also make sure to tell her all about mommy and daddies fairytale reunion, concocted in a way that only besties who know best could do.

Now What?

Since I live in so far away from family and friends it got me thinking. What do my girls really need? A quick click on 1-800-Flowers or a beautiful card will do the trick, but I would like to be present without physically being there. After all the phone calls and popover visits fade… what can we do to help from near or far?

Congrats to all the new Mommies and “Aunties” out there! Support your besties and their bumps. Remember, it takes a village to raise a child! So, let’s support our girls day in and day out. Mommy and Daddy P, you can be sure I want in on that village. So happy for you both!

Love and Yumminess,

Taylor
